March Pics

Well, the Minimans have had a lot of news since the last update 2 months ago! We have a new addition (albeit 6 ½ weeks early). Jared Kyle was born Feb. 27 (5 days after Mommy’s birthday). He was born at 2:31AM and was 4 lbs. 7 oz. and 17 ½ in. He came home 2 weeks later and is doing great and growing ever since. He now weighs 5 lbs. 9 oz. and is 19 inches. His big sister Rachel is his biggest fan and loves to kiss and help take care of him. She’s a great helper! Rachel can also now write all the letters of the alphabet and numbers.

More news to report: Rachel and Jared welcomed their new cousin Samantha Jade born 3 days after Jared on March 2nd at 11:13PM. She was 4 lbs. and 16 ½ in. She is doing great and is gaining lots of weight too. Congrats to Aunt Sari and Uncle Dave!

Some Rachelisms for the month:
  • She was riding her bike on the uneven sidewalk and said “This is terrible!”
  • Mommy was having a hard time doing her ponytail, so she said “That’s OK Mommy, you need to practice and keep trying!”
  • Every night when she's in bed, she asks "What are the plans for tomorrow?"
  • She was eating an M&M cookie. Mommy and Daddy asked if they could have a piece and she said, “only eat the vanilla, not the M&M!”

      April Pics

In April, Rachel learned about Passover in school and had a party there. She had a Sedar at Aunt Sari's and found the matzoh! She had lots of b-day parties as well. She keeps asking when her birthday is. She loves to sing the Alicia Keys song "No One" and Rihanna's "Please Dont Stop the Music". Rachel knows makes and models of family and her friend's cars. She will see a car and say Emily's car in red, that's Jordana's car in black, etc and she always gets the make and model correct. Gaga is happy that at least someone in the family is into cars like him. Funny Rachel comments in April:

In February, we celebrated Valentine's Day, Mommy's Birthday, played in the snow and saw Blue's Clues at the theater. Rachel's speech has quadrupled this month and she's speaking run-on sentences. She's quite the conversationalist at home. She loves school and mentions all the kids in her class. She loves to paint but snack time is her favorite. She's learning all about Purim now and teaching us a thing or two! Rachel loves to sing and dance and Mommy could not be happier. They sing and dance all the time..poor Daddy. She also loves to sing at restaurants and while doing errands. January Pics

There were only a couple of pictures taken in January, I guess not much going on. That's alright, we'll give you guys a break with the pictures. Rachel is officially 2.5 years old (and will tell you), weighs 33 pounds and is tall and thin. Her vocabulary doesn't cease to amaze us as she is saying more and more words we had no clue she knew including xylophone, octopus and city (when looking at a picture of a skyscraper). When we walked into Nine West, she said "Wow - shoes!" She's a pro at the alphabet and phonics and we're just working on furthering her sentences. When she calls for her Daddy, she tends to yell "Marc" (wonder where she gets it from), then when asked what do we call him and she yells "Daaaadddyyyy". Well, it carries through on playdates. She was calling for her friend Bennnnn then "Ben up" to get him to come upstairs! Might not be the most promising method to pick up guys."shot. When she or someone else drops something, she gets it and says "I got it"!

      December Pics

Happy New Year everyone! Let's hope it's a happy and healthy one. Congrats to Cousin Jason and our new Cousin Jen on their engagement! In December, we celebrated Hanukkah and Rachel got lots of presents! When she opened toys she got excited and when she opened clothes she took a peek and put them aside and proceeded to another present. She loves singing the Dreidel song in addition to Laurie Berkner songs. She counts up to 8 in Spanish - completely learned from our pal Dora. She likes to pick out her own clothes and is a perfectionist and notices when something is out of place or if there's lint. She doesn't like when people are wearing jackets indoors or if someone doesn't have shoes on. She says to Mommy "Daddy Not Happy, Bagel Floor" as in she threw the bagel on the floor and Daddy wasn't happy. In school, Rachel made a picture frame with her picture in it, which honestly looks like a mug shot. When we showed Nana "look at Rachel's mug shot on the fridge", Rachel walked over to it and said mug shot! Now everytime someone comes over she takes them to the fridge and says mug shot. She is constant entertainment and should have her own reality show!

      November Pics

In November, Rachel went clubbing in the city at Baby Loves Disco. She celebrated Thanksgiving, went to an engagement party and had a Hanukkah celebration with family. We're not keeping track of her words anymore as there are too many and she repeats everything that we say. She still loves to sing and dance and the Alphabet Song is her favorite. Rachel is looking forward to lighting the menorah and receiving her 8 days of gifs.

      October Pics

October was a jam packed month: Rachel took her first trip to NYC and went to FAO Schwarz and Central Park Zoo. She had her first haircut because it was getting kind of "mullety"! She also went into a big girl's bed! We had lots of b-day parties, baby naming and a baptism this month. Rachel was a cowgirl for Halloween and was out for 2 1/2 hrs. trick or treating wtih her friend the Ladybug. She can finally say her name and stopped referring to herself as "baby". Well, she says "Ray" but that's cool because that's what her Daddy calls her. Everything seeems to be me, mine, my, but the other words she started saying are: chair, hockey, baseball, fish, snow pea, yellow, green, purple, orange, white, black, pink, snack, shoe and I see you. She also sings her anthem "Oh Ray" like the chant for Jose Reyes. Funny moment: Daddy was watching football with the guys and she stands in front of the TV and says "No hockey - Dora". She'll have to learn to say football soon.

Rachel loves to sing and dance. Click Here to see her dance. We haven't been able to tape her singing yet but her songs include The Alphabet Song, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Frere Jacques and a few Dora songs. Heartfelt moment: while she was standing in front of Mommy & Daddy facing us, she grabbed both of our heads and brought them in to face each other and kiss, then she wanted in on the action! Funny moment: she wanted something so I said "hold the phone", so she grabs the phone!

During September Rachel took her first steps - 3 to be exact, she got her first pair of walking shoes, grew 2 teeth, says uh-oh and can feed herself with a spoon (just can't scoop the food up herself yet). She still loves Dora The Explorer and squeals and dances everytime it's on - it's also DVR'd for her each day. While Mommy was changing her, she grabbed her face with 2 hands, pulled her in and gave her a kiss. I think she knows Mommy is going back to work and is making it tough to leave! She's becoming more and more affectionate with lots of hugs and kisses. Those are the best moments of parenthood. Check out a video of Rachel Walking with the push toy. None of her taking steps were captured - hopefully next month.
